Will of Richard Gwinnett of Wormington, 1633

In the name of God Amen, I Richard Gwinnett of Wormington in the County and Diocese of Gloucester being sick in body but of perfect memory doe make my last will in form following.

First I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of God and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix and consigning my worldly estate.

First I give and bequeath to my sonne John my house in Tewxbury to him and his heirs for ever to enter to it when he is 21 years of age and my will is that his mother shall receive the rent of it till then to help towards his education.

Also I give to my sonne John the lease of my tenement in Witcombe in the county of the city of Gloucester but his mother shall have it till he is 21 years of age to help towards his education.

Also I give to my sonne John one hundred pounds to be paid when he shall be 21 years of age; if he happen to die before then I give the hundred pounds to the surviving children to be equally divided between them.

Also I give to my sonne Richard Gwinnett 3 hundred pounds to be paid when he shall be 21 years of age.

Also I give to my sonne George 3 hundred pounds to be paid when he shall be 21 years of age.  If either of them shall die then my will is that the money shall be divided between my surviving children.

And whereas my wife is with now child, I give that child if it pleases God it lives, 3 hundred pounds to be paid when it shall be 21 years of age; if it die before the portion shall be divided amongst my surviving children.  My will is that my Executrix shall have the use of the portions to breed my children upp;

All the rest of my goods unbequeathed, I give to Mary my wife whom I make Executrix of this my last Will.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the 10th. day of July in the year of our Lord God 1633.

I doe declare my brother George Gwinnett and my brother in law John Newton to be overseers of this my last Will and Testament.
