Mary Gwinnett of Cheltenham, 1843

This is the last Will and Testament of me, Mary Gwinnett, of Gordon Cottage, Cheltenham, Widow.

I devise and bequeath all estates vested in me upon any Trust or by way of mortgage to my son, William Henry Gwinnett, to hold to him, his heirs, executors and administrators, respectively, according to and upon the Trusts subject to the equities of redemption upon and subject to which the same estates are vested in me.

And I give, devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate, not herein before disposed of (subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses) unto my said son, William Henry Gwinnett, and my daughter, Rosa Matilda Palmer, the wife of Thomas Gill Palmer of Cheltenham, surgeon dentist and their respective heirs, executors and administrators, in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and not as joint tenants for his and her own absolute use and benefit.

And I appoint my said son, William Henry Gwinnett, executor of this my will.

I give to my daughter, Rosa Palmer, all my wardrobe and all my jewels, trinkets and other ornaments of the person.

And I give to each of my grandchildren, Thomas William Gascoigne Palmer and Mary Elizabeth Palmer, the children of my said daughter, the sum of twenty pounds to be paid to them respectively on their respectively attaining their respective ages of twenty one years and to be accumulated at interest in the mean time.

And I declare this to be a codicil to my will and in all other respects I confirm my said will.

Proved 28th December 1843 by William Henry Gwinnett, the executor. Sub £1,000 Testatrix dies 25th July 1843.

The 28th December 1843, appeared personally William Henry Gwinnett of Cheltenham in the county of Gloucester, gentleman, and alleged upon oath that the foregoing paper-writing contains the last will and testament of Mary Gwinnett, late of Cheltenham, widow, deceased, who died on the 25th July now last leaving goods, chattels, and credits wholly within the Diocese of Gloucester and Bristol under the value of One thousand pounds, that he is the sole executor therein named; that he will well and faithfully perform the same and render and inventory and account, etc.  Wherefore he prayed probate.  Let probate pass.  Edwin ……, Principal Surrogate.
